The Who, Where, and When…
Bride and Groom: Alexandra and Justin Yanity
Wedding Date: 10/15/2016
Ceremony Location: First Church of God, Latrobe, PA
Reception Location: Antonelli Event Center, Irwin, PA
When and How Did You Meet
We met in grade school at St. Joseph Regional Catholic School. We played drums in the band together when we were 6 years old. Our mothers were best friends from the time we were small so we would attend events at each others parents house from the time we were small. We did not date until we were both out of college. His mother set us up on a date and we were inseparable from that day on.
Tell Us About the Proposal
Justin decided to take me on a behind the scenes tour at the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. We were taken out onto the sea lion exhibit and got to interact with the sea lions. Near the end of the program everyone had disappeared and Justin got down on one knee and started to say, “There was a reason why I brought you here today…” I started crying so hard I didn’t hear the rest. But I said yes! And the sea lions all clapped for us!
Tell Us About the Look / Theme / Style
The theme of the wedding was modern with a touch of bling. The colors were charcoal gray and plum with a hint of peacock (feathers and blue).
What Inspired the Vision
I just loved the colors and how they looked together. It was a fall wedding and I wanted to keep the colors fall like.
What Made Your Wedding Unique
Our wedding was unique because it had no flowers. The centerpieces used sticks and feathers. The bridesmaids carried feather bouquets. The bride carried a brooch bouquet. The men’s boutonnieres were made out of shotgun shells and sticks.
What Moment Do You Recall the Most
Finally being able to marry my best friend!
Anything Else That Deserves to Be Told
3 months exactly prior to the day of getting married the bride was involved in a dirt bike accident and shattered her knee. She had emergency surgery and had a 12 inch plate and 18 pins put in her knee and leg. She was told she would not walk down the aisle for her wedding. The bride was determined to be able to walk down the aisle. Through sheer determination and will power she managed to push through physical therapy and walk down the aisle under her own power for the wedding. She was even able to do a little bit of dancing!
