When and How Did You Meet
Seth and I met in December of 2013. I had just started a new job at the H.J. Heinz Company in Pittsburgh, PA. Seth had been working there a little over a year so he was close with some of my co-workers. When we all had the opportunity we would get lunch together and catch up on each others lives and the typical work chatter. In one of the first lunches I went to Seth was nice enough to direct a question to me, asking how my weekend was, the only issue was he called me by the wrong name, Ashley instead of Amanda. After we got through that and he remembered my name I started really noticing what a great guy he was. He is very intelligent as well as down to earth and funny, truly the whole package.
Fast forward a few weeks and Seth asked me to go to a Pitt Basketball game with him, to which I agreed and we clicked immediately. It was definitely a risk starting a relationship with someone at work but I’m so glad I did, I found the man who I will spend the rest of my life with!
Tell Us About the Proposal
Seth planned a two year anniversary date for us to go to Phipps Conservatory. This was the place we went on our second date, which is when I would say we both decided we were serious about the relationship.
I thought Seth had just planned a nice day for us to spend together for our anniversary, but I had no idea that he had more in mind. On the drive there I even teased him that it was a much more relaxed day then two years ago when we were headed there on one of our first dates. When we got to Phipps Seth immediately suggested we head to the Jungle overlook. This was a spot where we ended up stopping and chatting for a long time when we went there the first time. I thought it was odd that he was so determined to go there first, as we would make it their eventually but I went with it. Once we got there it felt like we were the only people in the whole conservatory. Seth pulled me close and said all the sentiments that a girl dreams of hearing before being proposed to, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was the perfect proposal in my mind and I will remember the day, the moment, and the feelings forever.
Tell Us About the Look / Theme / Style
The look and feel of our wedding is very feminine, classy, and traditional. We will be married in our church in Mt.Lebanon with our ceremony music being played on the organ. The reception will be at the Youghiogheny Country Club which has a gorgeous ballroom that adds class and elegance to the day. The bridesmaids will be wearing long blush gowns and the groomsmen will be in light gray tuxes. The reception will be decorated in white and blush with some gold accents. The centerpieces will have a mixture of floral arrangements and candles to create a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere.
What Inspired the Vision
I would say the vision of our wedding was inspired by the thoughts I’ve always had of my wedding day. I’ve always been a girly girl and loved the color pink. I wanted my wedding to be feminine and classy and I think that will be achieved with the the candles, flowers, and soft color palette.
What Made Your Wedding Unique
A few of my favorite things that are making our wedding unique are the custom cake topper that we have. It is a monogram covered completely in vintage pearls. It is so beautiful and will be eye catching as soon as you walk in the ballroom. We also are having a confetti canon that will go off as we are introduced as Mr. and Mrs. for the first time, I can’t wait to see how those pictures turn out!
What Moment Do You Recall the Most
The first moment that I made eye contact with Seth as I am walked down the aisle.
Anything Else That Deserves to Be Told
There are a few family pieces that will be included in my bouquet that I am very excited about. My grandma passed down a pocket bible that several women in my family have carried as they walked down the aisle, including my mom. I lost my mom to cancer, so knowing that she carried it truly makes it feel like she is apart of my day. I also will be using lace from my moms veil to decorate my bouquet and will wear her wedding band with my wedding jewelry. I know my mom will be with us in spirit on our wedding day, but having a small piece of her there will be so special for me.
